Triumph (elm hybrid)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The elm cultivar Triumph ™ was originally known as 'Charisma' until it was realized that name had already been registered for another plant. Derived from a crossing of two hybrids grown at the Morton Arboretum, Accolade ™ and Vanguard ™, Triumph ™ has a good upright form with strong branches bearing glossy, deep-green foliage. However, whilst its resistance to Dutch elm disease is high, it is moderately susceptible to elm-leaf beetle and Japanese beetle. The tree, under its original name of Charisma, featured in the elm trials [1] conducted by Northern Arizona University at Holbrook, eastern Arizona. Triumph ™ is being promoted by the Chicagoland Grows corporation in the USA, but is not known to be in cultivation in Europe or Australasia.
