For Buddhists, trishna (Sanskrit for "thirst) is a compulsion or desire for something in this world, something that must be overcome to reach enlightenment

"Trishna" was also the first Indian sailing expedition around the world (1985-87). This Indian army expedition used a small 37 feet fiber glass yacht named "Trishna". The journey is chronicled in the book "Trishna" by Don Moraes. One of the sailors on the boat, Maj. A K Singh was the first handicapped sailor to sail around the world.

"Trishna" is also the name of a Parkour Clan based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Clan has been involved in several media projects, appearing on UTV live in association with the "Urban Arts Academy" and taking part in "Project 10". They were Northern Ireland's first Parkour Clan and it is their influence that has made the Belfast scene what it is today. Two of its members, nicknamed "Incessant" and "Insidious" founded the Clan and are two of the very first traceurs, having founded the "Waterfront Scene" together. The two traceurs have gone on to found "S.T.F." (Show The Flow) which entails "jams" being organised through-out the country with the intent of getting the local Parkour community together. It is said that the "S.T.F. Project" entails more than just jams, but apart from a work-in-progress video known as "Order 66" ( a Star Wars reference and in-joke on the fact that the two traceurs are coloquially known as the "Sith" of Irish Parkour) nobody really knows much about the concept besides the jams. The Clan continues to increase the level of public awareness regarding Parkour, maintaining a good relationship with security guards, the police and the public. The Clan's first big media project "I see Differently" has been shown to various youth groups and the council, contributing to the fact that Parkour is, as yet, still legal in Northern Ireland and that "traceurs" are not merely seen as anti-social youths. The film now has some "errors" due to knowledge regarding the history of Parkour being less clearly known at the time, but has been viewed by council members as a positive project of a very high standard. Insidious and Incessant were two of the ten traceurs who performed at Dublin's RDS for the "Toys 4 Big Boys" event. Insidious is also now one of the two administrators of the "Parkour Ireland" site (www.pkire.com) which now has an official connection with S.T.F., with S.T.F. and "Parkour Ireland" officially endorsing each other.
