The show started in 1998, taking over from the The Vanessa Show and traditionally features 'chavs' and their numerous affairs or problems. These are invariably to do with infidelity and/or paternity issues.

Trisha Goddard hosts the programme, which is well known for the conducting of lie detector tests and DNA tests, the results of which are then revealed on air.

Robert Phipps, a body language expert, frequently guests on the show.

Trisha has frequently been accused of exploiting its subjects plus copying American formats such as the The Maury Povich Show.

Trisha was axed in 2005 when the presenter quit and moved from ITV to present a new show on Five.

[edit] Post Trisha

In 2005, Trisha Goddard began another show of a similar format on Five called Trisha Goddard. Such is the popularity of the new show, from 16 October 2006, it will be seen on Five and then in a double-bill on its new female-oriented digital channel Five Life.

[edit] Popular culture

  • Trisha Goddard is seen on Channel 4's Bo Selecta! speaking with a strong Caribbean accent, phrases such as "You want a lie detecta test?!" and "Rice and peas!".
