TRIPtych (1999) is The Tea Party's fifth full length studio album, and one of the most commercially successful of the band's career. TRIPtych sees the trio blending all three of the major influences found on their previous albums: the earthy classic rock of Splendor Solis (1993), the world music inspired instruments and arrangements of The Edges of Twilight (1995), and the industrial edge of Transmission (1997).

The album drew some criticism for its lighter tone and generally more positive mood when compared to previous offerings, particularly the album immediately preceding this one.

Nevertheless, TRIPtych provided the band's first number one single in Canada ("Heaven Coming Down", nominated for "Best Single" at the 2000 Juno Awards) and went on to reach platinum status within a few months of its release. The album also received a Juno nomination for "Best Rock Album", and the band was nominated for "Best Group".

[edit] Alternate Releases - Tour Edition

In the summer of 2000 EMI Germany released a special Triptych Tour Edition. The CD included a second disc featuring live tracks recorded while on tour in Germany, as well as several previously unreleased songs. Two of the unreleased songs would later appear on the compilation album Tangents: The Tea Party Collection
