Triple Eight Race Engineering

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TeamVodafone is a motor racing team that competes in the V8 Supercar competition in Australia. It is run by Triple Eight Race Engineering, with its main sponsor being Vodafone. The team prides itself as being Brisbane's very own V8 Supercar team.

[edit] History

Triple Eight Race Engineering Australia originated before the 2004 season. Triple Eight won no less than 12 British Touring Car Championships before 2004, and decided to expand its company. They built a custom-built facility at Bowen Hills (a suburb of Brisbane), and employed 35 people to make a V8 Supercar. They then entered competition in the 2004 season.

Engineers in Brisbane work closely with the Triple Eight Race Engineering staff in the UK. Ford Australia also provides much needed technical and financial support to the team.

In 2007, the team's drivers are Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes. The team won the Bathurst 1000 in 2006, the first victory for Ford in 8 years.
