Trinity School (Nottingham)

The Trinity School in Nottingham, England is a comprehensive Catholic secondary school (ages 11-18). It was formed in 1975 by the merger of Bishop Dunn school and the Loreto Convent, a girls' grammar school.
The 'Observer' newspaper announced 22th May 2006 that Trinity School was the top school in the country for Mathematics teaching at A level. It is also the top school in the country for Boys performance in A level Mathematics. Trinity appears at the top of a list of 4331 schools of all types throughout the country. Trinity is already in the top 1% of schools for Mathematics progress between Key stage 2 and Key stage 4, and this is now success at post 16. The head teacher of Trinity School is Mr. McKever who took over Mr. Bonners place last year after annoucncing his retirement, there are also three deputy heads: Mr. Dexter, Mr. McMahon and Mr. Nicholson. The Trinity School has a large range of groups and activities including the Trinity School Show Band.

Trinity School Show Band were formed in 1998 as a traditional marching band but became a show band two years later. In 2001 they participated in the World Championships in Germany and in 2002 some band members became part of ITV programme "Dangerville". They came 12th in the 2003 World Championships in Italy and 17th in 2004. In the 2006 season, they won Division 2 at both the Colchester Band Championships and the Academy Brass Contest, with 675 and 671 points respectively,and came third in the Severn Vale and Midland Impact contests, with 675 and 755 points respectively. They finished placed 3rd in the league table, but went on to become National Champions. They are likely to march in Division 1 of BYBA next year.
