Trimulgherry

Trimulgherry also written as Thirmulgherry is a suburb of Secunderabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the anglicised name for Tirumalagiri.

Trimulgherry is in the military area and it houses some elegant buildings built during the British era.Trimulgherry has many important land marks. It has an old British Jail, a Medical college. Sir Ronald Ross who discovered cure for Malaria was not far from this place. Close by to it is a small lake known as the Hasmathpet Lake which supplies about 25% of the fresh water fish to the city.

As a Residental Suburb

In the past 15 years this suburb has become an important residential area in the twin cities. Many colonies and apartments came up in this suburb. Even the land value has become very expensive considering the fact that it is just 5 km away from Secunderabad City.

Shops

There are many shops for all kinds of needs in this suburb. Recently, in 2002, a lot of clothing factory outlets opened in this suburb. Many branded clothes for all kinds of people can be found at these shops at discounted prices. Because of this, people from many parts of the city come to these shops to do their shopping during festival season.

There is an RTA office which serves as an office for all surrounding suburbs. The office is busy at all times during normal business hours.

Many Banks started operating in the last 4 yrs considering the importance and the increase of population of this suburb.

Monda Market Shifting

The TDP Govt proposed to move the monda market in the city to this suburb. The TDP Govt allocated land and built a huge market for this purpose. But, due to resistance from the businessmen in monda market the market could not be shifted to this suburb. A few wholesale shopkeepers moved to the new market but a lot of businessmen decided to stay in the city. The govt couldn't move them to the new market as they were threatened by the businessmen of grave consequences. Some small time sellers sell vegetables right next to the govt allocated market and it is usually busy during evenings after 4pm.

Roads and Rail

This suburb is well connected with roads. The Rajiv Rahadari (Highway) which connects Secunderabd to the northern Telangana districts of Andhra Pradesh passes through this suburb.

National Highway 9 (NH9) is 2 km from this suburb.

There is a link road that connects NH9 to ECIL 'X' Roads and further and it passes through this suburb. A lot of transportation through trucks takes place via this road. Due to this there is a lot of traffic congestion during peak hours.

Unfortunately, this suburb is not connected by rail.
