T. rackhami Willis, 1993 |
Trilophosuchus (meaning "three ridged crocodile") was a member of the extinct crocodilian subfamily Mekosuchinae. It is hypothesised to have been arboreal (lived in rainforest trees) and may have dropped down onto prey. Trilophosuchus was approximately 1.5m (5 ft) in length. It had a short skull with three ridges on top and large eyes. Fossils have been found at Riversleigh in north-western Queensland.
Only a single species has been described, the type species T. rackhami.
