The industrial synthesis apparently involves the Friedel-Crafts reaction between phosphorus trichloride and benzene.

YES! Every reactive chloride can undergo this reaction. Where I would be carefull to call it Friedel-Crafts reaction.--Stone 22:38, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
