[edit] North-West Territories Act of 1880?

Hi CW, I'm trying to figure out which act this was exactly...there were acts with similar names of 1870 and 1875. And in 1880 the British transferred the Northern islands to the NWT..was this the one, is there a problem with the date, or is it another act that I'm not familiar with? Fawcett - I have dates for the North-West Territories Acts as 1870 and then revisions in 1873, 1875 and 1880 (and I think there were revisions after that as well) - I think that it's the same Act that transferred the northern islands to the NWT, but I'm not certain. CWood 03:37, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Ah, this would make sense if 1875 and 1880 were just amendments to the 1870 act... The island transfer would have had to be a British act though, no? Fawcett5 18:27, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

should also include that he was tried under this really old law XD which I will look up the name of, xD from Edward III's reign which should only be applicable to England and Wales, not the colonies. The government chose to use this one because it had death penalty, as opposed to the life imprisonment sentence of the Victorian one (will look up that one's name too)

you mentioned that the jurors were all from Regina yet I thought they selected the CPR workers who've only recently arrived in the area so their bias would be like most easterners, more for the government and less for Riel. if you could confirm or clarify that would be great.
