Trevor Anthony Ariza (born June 30, 1985 in Miami, Florida) is a professional basketball player in the NBA for the Orlando Magic. After a college career at UCLA, Ariza was a second round draft choice (43rd overall) of the New York Knicks in the 2004 NBA Draft. Ariza was considered a draft-day steal, one of the bright spots in Isiah Thomas' short stint as the Knicks' GM, and at times, he played significant minutes for Larry Brown's Knicks as one of the team's top perimeter defenders at small forward. Midway through the 2005-06 NBA season, however, Ariza's minutes fell off dramatically, perhaps due to a strained relationship with Brown. On February 21, 2006, Ariza was traded to the Orlando Magic along with Penny Hardaway in exchange for Steve Francis.

Ariza attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles, where as a junior he along with teammate Hassan Adams led the Comets to California State Champions. Drafted by the Knicks at age 19, after spending just one year at UCLA, Ariza started his career coming off the bench. Some sources believe that he would have benefitted from an extra year at college, but with the expanding number of players drafted out of high school, just getting a single year of college is now something few NBA players enjoy.

Ariza earned himself starting honors with the Knicks under Larry Brown, as the team attempted to implement a youth movement until 2005 draft pick David Lee replaced him.

His youngest brother died after falling out of a hotel window in Venezuela on the 30th floor. [1]
