Trepalle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Trepalle is the highest inhabited village in the Alps. Politically it is part of the comune of Livigno and thus it is a duty-free area. It is considered the village at Europe's highest altitude.
The village is located above Livigno between the Foscagno Pass and the Eira Pass. The northern part of the village, by the Eira Pass, is one of the main skiing areas of Livigno.
The village's former priest, Don Alessandro Parenti, inspired Italian writer Giovanni Guareschi for the character of Don Camillo.
Since tre palle means "three balls" in Italian, there are some sexual jokes about this village.
