Treen, Cornwall

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Treen (grid reference SW3923) is a small village in the far west of Cornwall, United Kingdom situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) inland from Lands End on a short unclassified spur road from the B3315 road . It sits just inland from the Logan Rock headland above Pedn Vounder tidal beach and overlooking Penberth Valley. The Logan Rock itself is an 80 tonne granite rock out on the headland that was so finely balanced that it was possible for a single adult to rock it. The rock is famous because it was pushed off the headland into the sea by a bunch of rowdy drunk sailors in 1824 - because it was such a popular tourist spot, the locals then forced them to put it back under the scrutiny of the national media.
