Treaty of Batum

Treaty of Batum, June 4, 1918, a treaty between Democratic Republic of Armenia and Ottoman Empire. Consisting of 14 articles. It is the first treaty of Armenia. The treaty was signed while Army of Islam held positions 7 kilometers from Erevan and only 10 kilometers from Etchmiadzin.

Fifteen days after the treaty a delegates from Armenia was asked to come to Constantinople. The treaty needed to be examined and confirmed with the Central Powers. The treaty was in diffuse as General Andranik, was fighting against the Ottoman Empire with his army. He refused to accept the borders stated by the treaty. The link between Ottoman Empire to Azerbaijan Democratic Republic at Karabakh-Zanghezur, where his activities were concentrated.
