Talk:Trent Easton

[edit] Perfectly aware of the situation (?)

It can be debated whether Easton knows the true identity of Mr. Blonde. Indeed, Easton was not directly contacted by the Skedars, [...] he is seen interacting with several blonde individuals at the same time. The fact that he wouldn't ask himself why they all look exactly the same either proves that he is stupid or that he is too preoccupied with his interests to dare raise the issue. Easton never refers once to the eventuality of an extraterrestrial existence. [...] Yet, the fact that he seems in control of the military facility should make him aware of the presence of Maians being dissected inside its very walls. A possible explanation to this may be that Easton is perfectly aware of an extraterrestrial life form, but that he doesn't know the blonde individuals are themselves an alien species.

To that I have to say: Yes it's all debatable. Given the facts, revealed in the Background information ingame (Hacker's Central) and the behaviour of Trent, I would put it this way:

Trent knew there were Maians, and Skedar (and propably he knew about the Cetans). But he didn't knew that Mr. Blone is one of the Skedar. As I got it from the ingame texts, Easton and de Vries think of Blonde as a middleman who speaks for the Skedar, but is human - that'd explain why Trent called him 'Skandinavian freak' (the Carrington Institute factfile sais he's "A scandinavian in the midd-20s" untill you finish the Crashside-Level.

That Trent knew about the Maians is imo indicated by his statement "There will be no outside help for Mr. Carrington" - in addition to that, the guy in the Area 51 - Escape Intro sais "Director Easton will hear about this, young Lady!" wich means Easton is as Head of NSA also Head of Area 51 and thus has to know about extraterrestrial life - at least of the existence of the Maians.

Trent's cowardness while facing Joanna may be because he can't face her or otherwise it would demage the storyline. You can state it this way: He runs of in Air Force One, because he thinks the ship will crash - leaving Joanna to die - and plans to hop out with a parachute for himself -> this is supported by the fact, that he runs to the exit in the very back of AF1. If you pursuit him, he will turn and face Jo, and he will kill her. He can't be killed, and he kills with one shot - just as in Duell - reason could be, that he can't leave AF1 as long as Jo is behind him to kill him. An other fact is: He kills the President. Sooner or later he aimes at the President and kills him with a single strike, causing the mission to fail - and making his threat "My last chance? That was yours!" become reality.

His cowerdness in Crashside can be explained by this: He runs past the Blondes, hoping that they'll kill Joanna, and if they don't succeed, he runs to the Skedar Shuttle in expectation the Auto-Guns there will finish her, or he could escape with the shuttle (besides the storyline would be demaged if he would face Jo - because the player would have to kill him, causing the cutscene to be demaged).

Well, I hope I didn't miss anything... Trent_Easton 16:46, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, you are of course right: Trent runs only so that he dies at the hand of Mr Blonde in the later cinematic. Yet I tried to find a plausible explanation, in real-life, to those many escapes. But it is true that the level The Duel shows that Easton is a worthy opponent and could have faced Joanna in the game. I made some considerable changes to the article tonight.
