[edit] Instructions

Once you have completed a translation, please sign your name, cut it from the Requested Articles section, and put it in the Recently completed translations section for copyediting and proofreading.

When requesting a translation, you can also add {{Translation request from Swedish}} on the talk page of the equivalent English article, if one exists. This produces the following message:

Svenska A version of this article in Swedish has been listed at Wikipedia:Translation into English/Swedish. If you'd like to translate it, sign your name there, or, if you'd also like the article to be translated, sign your name there under "Supported:".

To request a translation, add the latest requests to the top, and use the following format: please add a level-3 heading and indicate:

Article
link to Swedish article in the form [[:xx:Title]]. Remember the initial colon before the language code. Without it the link will point to the equivalent of this translation page in the specified language.
Corresponding English-language article
<article name> (or None); should be filled in if article already exists or if someone does a partial translation.

If you're finished with what you can handle, but there is more to do: "Partially translated by <user> <date>".
One step past that might be "Translated, but review requested by <user> <date>".
If it's finished, mark it "Complete <user> <date>" and move it (as described below).

Please do indicate in the references section of the newly created article that an article in Swedish Wikipedia was among your sources. For example, the references section of the article "Oscar von Sydow" begins, "Much of the content of this article comes from the equivalent Swedish-language wikipedia article (retrieved July 25, 2006). The following references are cited by that Swedish-language article..." Note that something like this (without that last sentence) would be in order even if the Swedish-language article did not cite any references of its own.

Also, please don't forget to add interwiki links all around.

When you complete work on an article, it would be polite to inform the original requester on his/her talk page, move this request to the talk page of the relevant article, and add an entry to Completed translations.

[edit] Recently completed translations

Remember that a "completed" translation can always be improved by people who do not speak the language from which it was translated — if you enjoy copyediting, browse these articles and tidy up any unnatural-sounding language which might have slipped in.
