Travis Winks is Sports Director at 101.7 WSFM and host of the top rating weekend sports show “Whistles and Hooters”.
Travis also presents sport on the Jonesy and Amanda Breakfast show and has been a finalist in the best sports presenter category of the Australian Commercial Radio Awards in 2003, 2005 and 2006.
Born in 1980 in Ipswich, Queensland, Travis graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 with a Degree in Journalism.
His early career highlights include selling an exclusive story with Pauline Hanson to the Bulletin Magazine and interviews with Prime Minister John Howard and Kim Beazley on the 60 Minutes program in the lead up to the 1998 Federal Election.
Travis started his radio career as the weekend sports guy with Triple M Brisbane. This role quickly expanded to include regular appearances on the breakfast show.
During his time in Brisbane Travis also worked as a freelance journalist for Channel Seven Queensland on the Sunshine Coast.
He regularly did ground announcing for several teams including the Queensland Bulls and Brisbane Strikers and was the media manager for the Strikers for the 2001/02 NSL Season.
Travis married and has an 18 month old son.
