Travel + Escape is a Canadian category 1 digital cable television channel owned by Bell Globemedia with programming focusing on travel.
Licensed as Travel TV on November 24, 2000 by the CRTC; the channel launched on September 7, 2001 as CTV Travel. On October 30, 2006, CTV Travel was rebranded as Travel + Escape. Reasoning for rebranding the channel was to give it a new "edgier" look and feel to fit its new shift in programming towards more character-driven and experienced-based series rather than the typical travelogue shows.
It is considered the Canadian equivalent of the Travel Channel. However, despite the relationship between CTV and Discovery Communications, there is no direct relationship with the American channel.
