Tras Honan

Tras Honan (born January, 1930) is a former Irish politician.
Tras Honan was born in Dublin and educated at St. Leo's Covent, Carlow and the Mercy Convent, Clonmel. Honan worked as a housewife before becoming interested in politics. She was elected to Seanad Éireann in 1977 and served for many years. She was elected to the position of Cathaoirleach on two occasions.
Honan is the widow of Dermot Honan, T.V. Honan, a Senator from 1965–1975, whose father T.V. Honan was also a Senator from 1934–1954. She is also a sister of Carrie Acheson, a former Teachta Dála.
