Transglobal Underground

Transglobal Underground (TGU) is a London-based music group. They specialise in a fusion of western and oriental music styles, often with Natacha Atlas as lead singer. Later recordings place a greater emphasis on African sounds.

Members have included singer and dancer Natacha Atlas and dhol drum player Johnny Kalsi.

Albums have been released on Nation Records. They reached the Top 40 in 1991 with Temple Head and were then joined by labelmate and future star Natacha Atlas. Atlas left in 1995 to pursue a solo career, but is still collaborating with TGU musicians and producers.
