Transfusion is a computer game, which has been released under the GNU General Public License, which tries to make a game like Monolith Productions's 1997 Blood. This is possible because the original copyright holder of Blood has accepted a copy being produced.

The project focuses on making Transfusion work on as many hardware types and operating systems as possible, which is possible with the DarkPlaces game engine, a modified Quake engine.

[edit] Creation of the project

It was originally hoped that the source code for Blood would be released, as has happened to several other computer games which use the Build game engine, but a complicated ownership situation has prevented this from happening. Eventually, uncertain if such a release would ever be forthcoming, the Transfusion developers elected to start work on their own engine, the aforementioned DarkPlaces.

[edit] Focusing

The primary focus has been on making the multiplayer part to work, while the single player part is now getting more focus. A lack of developers means that progress has been slow, however.
