Tranquilizer dart

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A tranquilizer dart is a dart-like projectile containing a sedative which is injected into the target as if through a needle or syringe when the dart strikes the target. Tranquilizer darts are fired from dart guns at wild animals in order to sedate them for the purposes of study or transport. They are not included in military or police less-than-lethal arsenals because no drug is yet known that would be quickly and reliably effective on humans without the risks of side effects or an overdose.
