Tractor unit

A tractor unit, road tractor or prime mover (Australian English) is a heavy-duty vehicle, usually with a large diesel engine and two or three axles. Three-axle prime movers often have the engine drive through both rear axles. These tractors are designed to pull long road trailers or semi-trailers, most often for the transport of freight of some kind over a significant distance. In the United Kingdom this type of "tractor" is often called an "artic [for articulated] cab".
