• 1854 – The Brooklyn City Railroad, the oldest streetcar line in Brooklyn, New York, opens for passenger service.
• 1874 – The first revenue trains on the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad operate between Denver and Morrison, Colorado.
• 1884 – The first Dow Jones average, the predecessor of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, is published; of the eleven companies included in the average, nine of them are American railroads.^[1]
• 1995 – The extension of Minsk Metro's Avtozavodskaya Line connecting Frunzenskaya to Pushkinskaya opens.
