- 1948 – Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway upgrades its El Capitan passenger train service frequency to daily.
- 1988 – Illinois Central Gulf Railroad drops the word "Gulf" from its name, returning to the premerger Illinois Central Railroad company name.
