- 1854 – The Great Western Railway of Canada opens its Galt Branch.
- 1867 – The Mount Morgan Railway in Queensland, Australia, opens between Rockhampton and Westwood via Kabra.
- 1882 – The first California Southern Railroad train from San Diego arrives at Colton, California.[1][2]
- 1913 – Construction begins on the Morrisburg and Ottawa Electric Railway just south of Billings Bridge, Ottawa.
