- 1826 – The Mohawk and Hudson Railroad, the first railroad built in New York state, is incorporated.
- 1837 – J. P. Morgan, American financier who helped to finance United States Steel Corporation, is born (d. 1913).
- 1882 – The St. Clairsville and Northern Railway, connecting St. Clairsville to Barton, Ohio, is incorporated.[1]
- 1892 – Canada Atlantic Railway leases the Central Counties Railway, which connected Glen Robertson and Hawkesbury, Ontario.[2]
