Transmetals are a type of Transformer in the fictional Transformers Universes.

First named by Rattrap in season 2 of the Beast Wars series, it was a term used to described Maximals and Predacons whose alternate forms were formerly organic looking beasts, but had become more mechanical looking after the effects of a quantum wave altered them. These Transmetals usually had some vehiclular aspect added to their form, such as the dragster-like wheels of Rattrap's rat form or the hovercraft engines added to Megatron's dinosaur form.

Since then some tellings of the Transformers have used the term Transmetal to refer to any robotic animal alternate mode - therefore characters as far back as Generation One, like Ravage, Laserbeak or the Dinobots, with robotic animal forms, could be called Transmetal.
