You wikilinked twice to Balance Game 1984 in the current Balance Game article. Why? Wikider 09:13 11 February 2006

'Cause I think they're both good places to have a Wikilink, and it's not hurting anything to have both of them in there. TPIRFanSteve 03:27, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 40% for major edits and 75% for minor edits. (Based on the last 102 major and 8 minor edits outside the Wikipedia, User, Image, and all Talk namespaces.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear inpolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 04:24, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MegaMan Trigger

An odd case. This fellow features mechaincal aspects and cybernetic-like mechanisms, yet in game he is depicted consuming organic foods usch as apple pie. Would Cyborg be a valid classification...? Or should I leave it as Unknown as before when I forst wrote the article...?-ZeroTalk 18:29, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re:The Price Is Right

You need to make an account on Tv.com. I think the requirement to edit something there is level 2..Coasttocoast 00:51, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Dude, I was joking about "hell freezing over". I don't know whether Gh87 really has connections with Doug Davidson. If he did, that would be good. If not, then oh well. 71.111.215.224 19:38, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Usage of "he"

Could you please explain how usage of "he" is correct? Royboycrashfan 06:59, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes. When a sentence could refer to either a man or a woman, it is proper to use "he" to refer to said hypothetical person. On the other hand, it is never proper to use "they" in those circumstances, as "they" is by definition plural and cannot be used to refer to only one person. -TPIRFanSteve 07:04, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. Royboycrashfan 15:28, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

I'd like to remind you to be civil and to not form personal attacks or edit wars through your or others' comments; doing so will only cause tension and annoyance. SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 07:01, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Template:The Price is Right

Er...I think not. That looks REALLY bad.

I just feel that the color in the heading is too harsh (too much red), compared to other template boxes. I recommend changing the heading to a "soft" yellow or red (per the show's colors). Ideas? I'd make another change to a different color, but I don't want to be ridiculed. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 12:33, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I'll try a "softer" red, and we'll see what happens. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 15:24, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Turns out there really isn't a "softer" red. Is there any shade of yellow you'd like? Or is yellow a straight "no" ? — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 15:28, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hurricane Katrina facts with the Price is Right

Hey, I noticed that you reverted the info I added about the one episode of the Price is Right that just aired that feauted a trip to New Orleans that was taped before Hurricane Katrina. Just letting you know I wasn't doing any vandalism or anything, just trying to help out by adding that the game played was 1 Right Price, and that the woman won, just in case anyone who missed the episode was curious. That's all. But if you figure otherwise, I guess that's OK then, too. Jgera5 13:20, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Digimon Systems Update

I noticed some of your edits on the Digimon related articles, and you seem to know a lot about the topic. Also, your edit summaries were helpful, and even cleared up some questions I've had in the back of my mind. There's a WikiProject for Digimon, WikiProject Digimon Systems Update, where editors who are knowledgeable about Digimon try to organize their efforts in improving Digimon articles. I think your input on the project would be very beneficial. There's no time requirements or real "membership", it's just sort of a place set aside for discussion that applies to a group of articles. So when ever you feel like it, check it out and give us your thoughts. Be sure to check out the talk page too, where most of the activity takes place. -- Ned Scott 01:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Plinko revert

Please do not revert info I added to the plinko page about the least won with five chips. It was on todays episode (june 14th, 2006 when a guy won only $500 with five chips hitting four zeros ) and I have it on tape to prove that it is the case. He asked off screen what the record for the least won with five chips won in the game and it was revealed to him to be one women who won zero with five chips. You have a habit of reverting things that you don't like but that doesn't make it wrong to be there. I have todays episode on tape if I need to prove that it is an actual fact I will. But there is no reason to revert it and especialy without an explanation. If a problem over this triva fact presists we can bring it up with the proper people till a resolution is resolved. But please do not remove it as it has every right to be there even if you don't approve. It is a very nice bit of trivia to know and a worthy addition. Thank you. PantheraLeo 02:56, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Bob makes up records all the time. This one certainly has a greater chance of being true than most of the others, but I don't know for certain that it is, and with all due respect, if I can't prove ot, I seriously doubt that you can. On the assumption that you have readded it, I'm taking it out again. -TPIRFanSteve 03:00, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Makes up? Just because you don't know it doesn't mean it was made up. Bob asked his records keeper for the actual info on it and he was told that. I have it on tape and will gladdly make and AVI up of it for you if you so need. And you can remove it and Ill add it back. We can keep doing this for days. I got nothing better to do. That's fine by me. PantheraLeo 03:02, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
fine we will go with your compromise. I don't agree but fine. I think it is true though and it is an interesting fact to note. But ok you put an effort to be fair and thats as best a compromise as we can do here. PantheraLeo 03:06, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
I just want to make it clear that The Price Is Right doesn't have a record book. No one there knows exactly how many times Plinko has been completely lost, how many times both showcases have been won, or how many times pretty much anything else has happened; even their count of perfect shows, which they do attempt to keep track of, isn't consistent. Bob even said on the air earlier this season that he makes the records up, so the fact that he said something happened some number of times doesn't make it true. -TPIRFanSteve 03:14, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What is your problem?

I took the time to get some better quality images and replace them. This is not just your Wikipeida it is everyones. Just because something of yours gets changed or replaced is to be expected. It is progress and improvement. I am going to change the things back and I may report you as a vandal. Stop it! Cheesehead 1980 18:42, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you.- CobaltBlueTony 19:14, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Of the two people who have gotten pissed at me today, one of them was replacing good-quality images with low-quality images, and the other was editing information into Pathfinder (The Price is Right pricing game) that was laughably false. I see no reason not to undo such changes, as the former is pointless and the latter makes the article less accurate. -TPIRFanSteve 22:09, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
The best way to avoid getting into a revert war in the first place is to talk about your changes first on the talk pages, and even get consensus on your opinion before proceeding. - CobaltBlueTony 12:45, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Oh. I see what you did now. If you'll check Cheesehead's Talk page, you'll find the dates of five shows on which Pathfinder was played perfectly. If you want, I can even link you to recaps of them. -TPIRFanSteve 03:55, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pricing games articles

How do feel about the article moves I am making. (I am wanting some feedback) — The King of Kings 02:03 June 24 '06

Well, I'm not sure some of the articles should necessarily be just the game's name or even the name plus "(game show)" (for instance, Shopping Spree, which I already moved to "Shopping Spree (The Price Is Right)", but once we figure out where everything should go and get all the redirects fixed, it probably won't hurt.
Actually, I'm more worried about the fact that someone seems to be creating copy/pasted versions of the articles with no edit histories. In fact, I just left a message about that on your Talk page. -TPIRFanSteve 02:07, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, but I'm not the one copying/pasting. ;-) I just saw your edit to Shopping spree. I didn't check for other articles named shopping spree since I knew there was probably an article on it somewhere, I didn't know about an alternate gameshow. I ran into that problem earlier with, I think, Temptation. I'll try to avoid that in the future. Thanks for the feedback. — The King of Kings 02:13 June 24 '06

[edit] Why did you change most of my stuff today?

I put in some interesting history behind some of the old games and I found out that you changed it.

You also took out my comment on Shell Game. Nickrj

Most of your edits were badly phrased (and I'm not completely sure I trust their accuracy, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt), and your addition to Shell Game was just plain inane; no one gives a crap about whether Bob bounces the ball or not. -TPIRFanSteve 00:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Well I thought I've always enjoyed Bob doing that whenever the game is played. Nickrj

Well, maybe he does, but that doesn't make it in any way notable. -TPIRFanSteve 00:32, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Wow, you really don't give up when you know you're wrong, do you?
Why can't you just let this drop? -TPIRFanSteve 05:38, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Please read WP:SOCK to understand why you certainly do appear to have a sockpuppet. An admin. can tell, so I will ask for a checkuser before offering my opinion. - CobaltBlueTony 13:24, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Don't worry about Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser#TPIRFanSteve if you're not using a sockpuppet. Admins have the ability to tell the difference. - CobaltBlueTony 14:02, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Once the accusation is proven false, you will have more clout in your arguments, but please remain civil in your exchanges. Happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony 14:03, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Puppets

I am beginning to suspect your behavior is less than commendable:

Meat puppets are not acceptable replacements for sock puppets, nor do they give you very much credibility. I recommend strongly that you learn to deal with other editors on a more civil and trustworthy manner.

Respectfully, CobaltBlueTony 15:40, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

I can honestly say I have no idea who Plinky is. I've already admitted that I'm friends with Zinkin, but this new guy is...well, new. -TPIRFanSteve 16:16, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Nevertheless, the behavior is very suspicious. Please allow for admins to clear things up. If you are being honest, you will fare better. - CobaltBlueTony 16:31, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I agree that it looks suspicious from your standpoint. Honestly, I'm wondering who it is, myself. I don't intend to take it upon myself to find out, though. -TPIRFanSteve 01:35, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
For the record, I'm no one's sockpuppet; I know Steve, but he's not posting under my name or vice versa, and I was fed up with people degrading Steve's work with false information long before he said word one. That said, having dealt with similar issues in my work (I'm a network admin myself), I understand the need to investigate sock puppetry charges, no matter how baseless -- and since Steve and I are just under two hundred miles apart from one another, this is as baseless as it gets. I just hope that there's a mechanism in place to punish those who make accusations that they know are false. And memo to Buckner: the fact that a person who knows a lot about a subject corrects many, many people on it AND PROVIDES EVIDENCE doesn't make him wrong, and if being corrected with the proper information is enough to "drive someone away," the person who's "driven away" should question why he/she felt it necessary to make changes in the first place. (Oh, and I've no idea who "Plinky" is either.) --Dzinkin 13:07, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm not surprised. Second one in half a week, actually. -TPIRFanSteve 21:15, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

Old usenet posts and a fan site are hardly reputable sources. Buckner 1986 21:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

And why not, pray tell? And how are they any less reputable than a man who has admitted on national television that the "records" he talks about on the air are made up? -TPIRFanSteve 23:59, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Try you might, but you are not going to drive me away

The lies and abuse of you and your sockpuppets are not going to drive me away. I will not cowtow to bullying by you. Buckner 1986 06:19, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

What bullying? You're performing copy/paste moves, and that isn't the correct way to move a page. I'm sure you're not intending to cause trouble, but you are clearly in the wrong here. -TPIRFanSteve 12:07, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Price Is Right related articles - sourcing and other issues

Hello. I find the various articles related to The Price Is Right distressing as they seem to be unsourced, written for and by fans of the show, and have a definite WP:NPOV violating the Nationalistic bias clause. I would hardly consider a fan site for the show an accurate source of information, as it is unofficial. Such fansites tend to be filled with inaccurate and unverified information, much like message boards and usenet groups. An official source needs to be found for the information. Also, the disambiguation page that was up last night on The Price Is Right page would greatly help in removing the WP:NPOV Nationalistic bias problem, as it is very Nationalistic to think that anyone would just assume that the American version of The Price is Right is the be all and end all of the show. This would be a good case for disambiguation and moving the article that is there now to The Price Is Right (1972), as it would make things clearer and be consistant with the naming of articles. Respectfully submitted, Rekarb Bob 16:57, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I fully understand the issues with using a fansite as a source. All I can do is tell you that I write the FAQ for Golden-Road.net and that I don't put information in that I don't feel I can verify; most date information is corroborated either by having seen the episodes in question myself, by other people who watched the shows in question and kept notes on them, or by tape or airdates provided onscreen when the episodes were reaired on Game Show Network. A large part of the goal of the site is to stop the kinds of rumors you are concerned about, although I can understand why someone not familiar with it might doubt that.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help with this matter. -TPIRFanSteve 01:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
On this one, I stand behind TPIRFanSteve. Not to cause a further argument, but take the pricing game articles, for instance. Yeah, they're about the American versions (I understand some of the international versions vary in some way or another), but it is very clear that by watching the show you can see what the game rules are and what happens in the event of either a win or loss. I too understand that fansites sometimes are unreliable, but I have to wonder what kind of sourcing Rekarb Bob considers reputable? Time and again, CBS's Web site has been called into question, and so has Bob's "memory" as to notable achievements in a given game. As for the picture issue posted elsewhere on this userpage, I think a fair solution would have been to post both images on that particular pricing game's talk page, and then let us decide which photo is the better one; perhaps someone out there could have found an even better one. Finally, I respectfully ask that everyone involved with this issue take a time out and a deep breath, and discuss any further matters related to the wiki-TPiR and its related wikipages on the appropriate talk pages. [[Briguy52748 12:39, 6 July 2006 (UTC)]]

Meh, that's okay. I just should have read more closely to what was being discussed. However, I don't know if that anon was insinuating that the opposition to the move were all supposedly your socks, which I obviously cannot be. Ryulong 05:04, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

If someone does end up putting that sock stuff again, tell them it's your page and they have no right to post things you don't want on your page.
  • Removing such things is considered vandalism. Buckner 1986 23:37, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
As is accusing someone of sockpuppetry without proof! Lambertman 00:08, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Gee, I don't think asking another user to help defend you on these forums is sockpuppetry, although TPIRFanSteve probably doesn't need any help. In any case, I can say he's a legitimate user. I also populate the golden-road.net Web site, and he is a frequent contributor. As for the sockpuppetry issue, I second the thoughts of Lambertman. It's time for Buckner 1986 to either provide proof that TPIRFanSteve has used sockpuppets (which may be pretty hard as it is) or give Steve the benefit of the doubt, pull in his horses and move on. [edit] Stack the Deck

I heard this new game is coming out, do you have any details?

No, and I'd prefer to keep it that way. I don't like to know too much about new games until I can actually watch them on the air. -TPIRFanSteve 01:44, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
I added this game to the template if that's okay with you. Feel free to revert it if you feel I did it too soon. Mostly Rainy 04:36, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't see why it shouldn't be added. After all, the page is there, and the game's existence isn't really much of a secret. -TPIRFanSteve 04:55, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] sockpuppetry and Buckner 1986

G'day Steve,

I've deleted the pages you brought to my attention, and explained my reasoning at at ANI and on Buckner 1986's talkpage. I've also, as you already know, removed the "suspected sockpuppet" tags from where they shouldn't have been. For what it's worth, I appreciate the motivation behind this sort of message, but in hindsight it didn't turn out to be very helpful — I think this is a case where admin intervention would have been helpful earlier. Ah, well, it's settled (I hope?) now. Please don't hesitate to contact me &mdsah; or any one of nine hundred admins :-) — if you need anything, and I'll see what we can do. Happy editing! fuddlemark (befuddle me!) 14:33, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Airdate for Double Digits episode

[Mr. City's Price is Right Lighting] at http://www.stev-o.us/tpir3.htm is where I got the airdate for the episodes of The Price is Right.

Oh, okay. Those aren't all accurate airdates (and I know for certain that one isn't) -- some of those are just approximate dates that he puts in because his tables won't work properly if some date isn't entered. You've done nothing wrong, though. -TPIRFanSteve 00:38, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What do you think of Stack the Deck?

Have you watched the Stack the Deck pricing game yet? The first part where the contestant is asked which prize is $X is suspicious. You know. Bob asks if Prize A or Prize B is $2.99. I have never see even one contestant get one of those choices wrong. So each contestant ends up winnings all three of the numbers they can win. What you do you think is going on there? Will (Talk - contribs) 06:00, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

What do I think is going on? I think you're looking for reasons to criticize the show. Have some freakin' faith that they aren't discriminating against people or rigging things. -TPIRFanSteve 15:30, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I was assuming the show goes to great lengths to be legit. However, I don't believe they are being succesful avoiding potentional lawsuits. In the case of Stack the Deck, all they would have to do is display all six prices on TV. -Will Pittenger 07:24, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
1.) That certainly isn't what you made it sound like.
2.) No one's made a mistake yet, so we don't know what they do when there's a wrong answer. -TPIRFanSteve 18:22, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
