Toyworld Cup

The Toyworld Cup is a boys/girls Football (soccer) competition held in Gladstone, Australia every Wednesday afternoon at United Soccer grounds between up to twelve school teams from the Gladstone region. It has been contested for thirteen years.
Gladstone West has been the most successful team in the competition's history having won the cup four times (1997, 1999, 2000, 2003). Gladstone Central (1995, 1996), St. John's (2004, 2005) and Clinton (1994, 1998) are the only other multiple winners with two wins each.
Other winners include: Boyne (2002), Kin Kora(2001) and South (1993).
In this Century St John's have proved the most successful team with four grandfinal appearances since 2001.
Tannum Sands has the distinction of the greatest number of grand final defeats without a win having been beaten in 1996, 1998, 2000 and again in 2005.
St John's also has the distinction of being the first team to win both the Toyworld Cup and Sportspower cup in the same year. This feat was achieved in 2004.
The 2005 grand final was won by St John's one goal to nil over Tannum Sands.
The winner of each season's competition goes on to play the winner of the Bill Turner Cup of Rockhampton for the prestigious Toyworld Shield.
The competition serves as a selection for players in the district representative team.
