I am a litlle worried by the etymology on this one. wouldn't a tosspot have been a pot by which you toss your foul into the street. I can see tossing them back i.e. drinking rapidly comdine with the notion of tossing foul back ie. intoxicants are foul; but when so clearly there are references to tosspots meaning that receptical which you expiate in and then use to project your foul onto the streets it seems anachronistic to suppose that it the insult refered to drinking. Does it now? Please consider, I am not in contention just curious.
