Torstein Rudihagen

Torstein Rudihagen (born August 14, 1952 in Sør-Fron) is a Norwegian politician representing the Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet). He is a current member of the Norwegian parliament (Storting).

In his early career, he worked as a teacher. He began his political career in the municipality council of Sør-Fron, to which he was elected in 1983. He later became mayor (ordfører), a seat he filled from 1991-1997. On March 3, 1995, he was appointed Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, in the government of Gro Harlem Brundtland. When Brundtland resigned and Thorbjørn Jagland formed a new government, Rudihagen retained his job as Secretary of State.

In the election of 1997, he was elected to Parliament from his home county of Oppland, and he was re-elected in 2001 and 2005.
