Toronto Shamrocks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Toronto Shamrocks was the name of the Toronto Ontarios hockey team for the latter part of the 1914-15 season. While the Ontarios had worn orange sweaters, the Shamrocks wore green. In the spring of 1915 the team went dormant, as owner Edward J. Livingstone took over the rival Toronto Blueshirts and moved most of his players to that franchise. The National Hockey Association reactivated the abandoned Shamrocks franchise in 1916-17, awarding it to a Canadian military team, the 228th Battalion.
