Topaz is a Jazz-Funk group from Texas. Topaz McGarrigle got his start playing saxophone on the streets of downtown Austin, TX. Topaz continued his musical aspriations in London during high school in the height of the acid-jazz scene. Topaz the moved to Washington D.C. and studied Jazz at The Duke Ellington School of the Arts. In Early 1998 Topaz McGarrigle and Mark "Tewar" Tewarson started Topaz and began recording with Eric Hilton of Theivery Corporation. His Band moved to New York City and began playing weekly shows in Manhattan. Currently Topaz is back in in the studio working on a followup to their 2001 Release The Zone.
