Top 50

The Top 50 refers to a list of weekly hit singles, or albums. It is similar to the top 40, but with 10 extra places.
In the United Kingdom when Record Retailer launched their charts in 1960 to rival the existing chart compilers, they choose to list a top 50, making it the largest chart ever printed in that country at the time.
Although terms such as Top 10,Top 40 and Top 100 are seen as many to be more rounded or in larger use, the term Top 50 is also used in everyday life [1].
