Born in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada on February 4th, 1985 at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Father, Khung-Nam Banh and Mother, Chung Tran as well as older sisters, Linh To Banh and Phuong To Banh were all ethinic Chinese (Chaozhou) immigrants from Vietnam landed in Canada as refugees in 1981, several years after the communist takeover of Saigon. Before the family landed in Canada they lived in a military controlled refugee camp in Malaysia for approximately 14 months, along with the other Boat People of the Chinese Exodus from Vietnam during the late 70's and early 90's.
Tony, went to elementary school at Parkway Public School in the Preston Heights community a suburb of Preston which is a town/part of the larger municipality of Cambridge, Ontario. There he was an above average student, who enjoyed reading, art (drawing and painting), and excelled at subjects such as Math and History. During his early school days he also enjoyed playing such sports as road hockey, roller hockey, baseball, basketball, and soccer. He also started formerly training in Karate at the age of 9 at the Don Warrener's Martial Arts Academy (later changed to the Cambridge Martial Arts Academy) in July 1994 because a childhood friend at the time [Chris Fabber] was training there.
