Tony de Souza (born July 26, 1974) is the only Peruvian fighter to date to compete on the grand stage of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as a full contact fighter, and the Abu Dhabi Combat Club submission wrestling tournament. His style of fighting is an elegant blend freestyle wrestling, which he competed in throughout his high school and college years in the Los Angeles, California, and Brazilian jiu jitsu, which he practiced and perfected under the guidance of judo and jiu jitsu masters John Lewis and Andre Pederneiras, of the Nova UniĆ£o jiu jitsu academy, since deciding to pursue the career of professional mixed martial arts fighter. He calls his style of fighting Cholitzu, which came about by fusing the words jiu jitsu and cholo, the derogatory term describing the indigenous population of the Andes. To date, Tony has amassed a mixed martial arts record of seven wins and two losses.
