Tony Smith (Australian rugby league coach)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tony Smith is the head coach of Super League club Leeds Rhinos. The Australian was appointed by the Rhinos in a surprise move in 2003 as the club decided to move incumbent Daryl Powell into an upstairs role for two years from the start of the 2004 season. Smith, who had impressed as coach of Huddersfield Giants, leading that club back into Super League, guided the Rhinos to Grand Final success in 2004. He signed a contract extension to the end of the 2006 season soon after.
