Tony Mooney

Cr Tony Mooney, Is the current Mayor of Townsville City Council. He has been the incumbent since 1989 when he succeeded Mike Reynolds, he is currently serving his sixth successive term and achieved almost 80% support at the last election in 2004. [1]

Upon arrival in Townsville Mr Mooney was informed by a local that "you’ve gotta be here for 15 years before you’re considered a local”, he has now been Mayor for over 16 years. [2]

Cr. Mooney's Council has a vision of applying progressive community values to local governance[1]

He and his wife Cecelia Mooney [1] have three children Liam, Emma and Michael[2].
