Toni Doblas

Antonio Doblas Santana, also known as Toni D. or Toni Doblas, born on August 5, 1980 in Dos Hermanas, Seville is a Spanish footballer currently playing for Real Betis. Doblas is a goalkeeper who wears shirt number 13. He is noted by fans as having good reflexes and being strong in one-on-one situations.

[edit] Real Betis B
- Doblas spent four seasons in the Real Betis B team. He made 30 appearances in the 1999/2000 season, 34 in the 2001/2002 season, and 35 in the 2002/2003 season before moving to Xerez CD.

- Doblas went on loan to Xerez in the 2003/2004 season. He made only four appearances and returned to Betis the year after where his fortunes changed.

- Surprisingly, Doblas was called into immediate first team action on his return due to injures to fellow goalkeepers Pedro Contreras and Toni Prats. Doblas made his debut against Getafe on October 24, 2004, where Betis won 2-0. Doblas would remain first choice goalkeeper for the remaining season, even taking part in the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna which Betis won 2-1. Doblas was also a key element in the qualification of Betis for the UEFA Champions League
- During the 2005/2006 season, due to errors by Doblas and the poor form of Betis, Pedro Contreras would be seen as first choice goalkeeper. His most notable error came against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge where he gifted Ricardo Carvalho a goal.

- Doblas currently has a €12.0 million purchase clause in his contract.
- He has never made an appearance for the Spanish national side.
- Before becoming a professional footballer, Doblas was studying to become a journalist.
[edit] Penalty Stopper
Doblas has a reputation as one of the best Spanish penalty stoppers.
- In a semi-final, second leg Copa del Rey match against Athletic Bilbao, during the 2004/2005 season, he saved two penalties in a shoot out.
- In the 2005/2006 season, he saved a Camel Meriem penalty against Monaco in the third qualify round of the UEFA Champions League.
