Tong Guan

Tong Guan (童貫) is a character in the epic Chinese tale, the Water Margin.

Portrayed as an evil minister at odds with the Liangshan heroes, Tong is allied with the other evil Song ministers, most notably Gao Qiu and Cai Jing. Tong failed miserably in his imperial campaign against the bandits, losing hundreds of thousands of soldiers and being spared his life by Song Jiang.

Upon Song's victorious return from the South after the bandits had accepted the amnesty, Tong again conspired with Gao and the rest to murder the remaining bandits, to which they were successful.
