Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page.

I guess I'm still getting used to the way wikipedia is set up. I didn't mean to step on anyone's feet. I thought that was just clarifying some things in the articles I had edited. I guess one could call me a n00b at this.

Here are some helpful guidelines that'll improve your contributions: keeping a neutral point of view, and some general advice on editing. I'll go back and restore that general welcome message as well! --Ashiibaka tlk 05:20, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
There we go. (Bah, that NPoV article is kind of long, who wants to make a summary?) --Ashiibaka tlk

just to clean it up a bit, I think I'll get rid of some of the older messages on here, if you don't mind that is.

It's not considered polite to remove messages until about two weeks after they're posted (I've personally never removed any), but as long as you're going to be a bit less carefree about your future edits I guess you can keep this page clean. Ashiibaka tlk 06:08, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Removing the messages from your page speaks volumes about your purpose in being here. This is a collaborative effort and talk pages are a place where a lot of that collaboration is done. Wiping out the talk sends the message that you do not wish to collaborate. Reverting edits sends the same message. You can defend the edits you wish to make on the talk page of articles you contribute to. Again, I urge you not to restrict your contributions to churches you frequent, radio stations you listen to (if indeed you are not more closely involved in one or both) or issues you feel personally strong about.Dr Zen 06:35, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I was just removing the 'posts' that were not collaborative. Like these ones. These aren't getting any of us anywhere. And I will defend the right as a Wikipedian to put historical information on Wikipedia for whatever issue I want. I realize I may be posting things that others haven't heard about, but such is the nature of much of the information on Wikipedia. Nobody is expected to know an entire encyclopedia. I put this information on because I know that there are thousands of people that know about these organizations and wouldn't mind having this information. If anyone doesn't like what I post, it would be a better courtesy to me if they would atleast tell me before just removing it. I am a reasonable person and can deal with it. Well, got to go to bed for now. It's 1:41am where I am ;-)

Your recent contributions have been more helpful, good work! Ashiibaka tlk 07:03, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Tom, may I ask what was "non-collaborative" in the following message?

Please do not just enter {{PD}} on the image pages without specifying a source to back that up. That goes for Image:02weeks.jpg too. Thanks in advance! Please take it a little easy when dealing with topics where you know positions vary greatly and where you have a radical point of view. — David Remahl 22:02, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I don't have anything against you personally, but I think you should be a bit more responsive. Anyway, that wasn't the reason I came here...Image:Peterandjohnhorseback.jpg — It says the uploader has permission to use the image. Does that mean that the owner of the copyright licensed the image under the GFDL, or only that it may be used on Wikipedia? By permission images are deprecated and may be deleted in the future (see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for more info. It would be great if you could convince the owner of the image to license it under a more liberal license. Also, may I ask what the image is used for? The "Pages that use this image" function is broken, so one can never be sure, but it seems it is unused. — David Remahl 21:20, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

that image will be used in a article about river valley ranch. I have been rewriting the article to not sound like a advertisement, but more of a historical document. That image will go in there.--Tommajor 21:25, Nov 14, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Minor stylistic points

Hi again Tom! I have a few stylistic nit-picks for you now :-). Yes, I admit that I've been looking through your list of contributions, mainly because your removal of my comments from your talk page made me suspicious. I've noticed a few things:

  1. Don't use <br />'s as much as you do. Simple blank lines will do in 99% of the cases.
  2. Only link the first occurrence of a word in an article / section. An example is your edit to Genocide_and_ethnic_conflict_in_Israel_and_Palestine, where you linked Palestinians to Palestine (good edit, but it only needs to be done once.)

Sincerely, — David Remahl 21:49, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

thanks for the suggestions. definitely makes things easier... probably less load on the server to

You're welcome! — David Remahl 22:13, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] VfD and notice of response

Hi, I responded to your queries on the valley ranch talk page. Looking forward to reading your response.

I also saw that you listed an article for deletion. I can't see the point of it either, it is really messy...However, you seem to have stopped in the middle of the VfD procedure. You have to create a subpage on VfD for it and include the motive for listing it on VfD there. Then you edit WP:VFD and add a line referencing the votes page. There are full instructions on VfD. If you want, I can help you with the "paperwork". — David Remahl 23:02, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image source

Thank you for uploading Image:HBCchildren.gif. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. Thank you. Also the other related images. Zeimusu | (Talk page) 14:11, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
