Tomy Lee (1956-1971) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1959 Kentucky Derby defeating both Sword Dancer and First Landing. Born in England, Tomy Lee was brought to the United States as a weanling. At age two he won six of the eight races he entered and at age three won four of seven races with two 2nd place finishes. After his hard fought win by a nose in the Kentucky Derby, the colt did not run in the remaining two U.S. Triple Crown races and instead was returned to California to rest. Later that year Tomy Lee managed only a sixth place finish in the Cinema Handicap at Hollywood Park and between 1960 and 1963, he earned just $27,697.
Tomy Lee was retired at age seven after the 1963 racing season and died in 1971.
