Tommy Nuñez is the founder of the Tommy Nuñez foundation and an NBA referee. He is very vocal about his humbled roots and troubled youth. He grew up in the projects. His father was absent. He was expelled from high school for disciplinary reasons. He is noted as being the only Latino official in any major league sport in the U.S. He often remarks, “If I can make it, you can make it! Stay in school!” He also often reminds people to, “Love Themselves.”
