Tommy Miller (born 8 January 1979 in Shotton Colliery, England) is an English/Scottish footballer who plays for Preston North End on loan from Sunderland. Tommy is blessed with tremendous vision, excellent passing ability , an eye for goal, and has been consistently on the scoresheet throughout his career.

Miller started his career at Ipswich but was released as a 15 year old and was taken on by Hartlepool United where he made 160 appearances and scored 44 goals. He was signed back to Ipswich Town in 2001 by manager George Burley for £750,000. He then spent 4 years at Ipswich, scoring 15 goals in 39 appearances in the 2004/05 season and helping them to an unsuccessful championship play off appearance. It was in that season that he was noticed by Scotland manager Berti Vogts and was named in a friendly squad to face Wales; however Miller missed out due to an ankle injury.

The Sunderland fan secured a dream move to the Stadium of Light in June 2005 on a 2 year deal. However his form in the championship did not translate to the premiership and he, like most of the Sunderland team, had a terrible season and it has been suggested that Tommy had developed "invisibility powers" due to his lack of effect on Sunderland's games. Whether this lack of form was due to Tommy being unable to make the step up, or down to the team in general, is matter for debate. Sunderland finished bottom of the premiership with a record low 15 points.

The 2006/07 championship season started with 4 defeats for Sunderland and Miller is now expected to be able to continue his fabled invisibility powers elsewhere.

His first nationality is England however he is eligible to play for Scotland although he has yet to be capped by either nation.

As of 14/11/06 Tommy has moved on loan to Preston North End until the first of January.
