Tommy Flanagan, actor, (b. July 3, 1965), born in Glasgow, Scotland, has had roles in numerous movies.

[edit] Childhood

Flanagan was the middle of 5 children and at the tender age of 6, his father abandoned his mother. He grew up in a very rough part and admits into getting into some trouble, but that his mother Betty always kept him in line.

[edit] Early careers

In his early years Flanagan worked as a Painter, Decorator and Disc Jockey. He received a distinctive scar on his face after a mugging that almost left him dead. Afterwards Flanagan saw no way of returning to his old life and, at the urging of his friends and wife, took up acting.

Flanagan worked in the Rain Dog theatre for 3 years before Mel Gibson gave him his first big break in Braveheart (1995). He has subsequently had roles in such major films as Face/Off, Gladiator, and Sin City.
