Tomas Haake

Tomas Haake (born July 13, 1971) is the drummer for the metal band Meshuggah.
Noted for the technical complexity of his playing, Haake is highly regarded in Drum magazine polls. Unlike many other drummers noted for their technical abilities he maintains a restrained style, focusing on groove rather than flashy solos and fills. His drumming style is characterised by his use of polymeters, as he plays clashing time signatures simultaenously using separate limbs. This is a technique that is extremely difficult for a drummer to master, and it is one of the primary factors that ensured Haake was to become a much respected drummer and musician across the scene.
Haake writes the majority of Meshuggah lyrics and also contributes spoken vocals on several songs ("The Exquisite Machinery of Torture" on the album Chaosphere, "Spasm" on the album Nothing, as well as on several chapters on the album Catch Thirty-Three).
Haake is also featured on vocals in Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik Thordendal's solo album Sol Niger Within.
