Tom Pearson is the Chief Meteorologist for KTVE NBC10 and KARD FOX14 in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Tom's passion for weather goes back over three decades. As a young teenager growing-up in Oklahoma, he was fascinated with the variety of weather conditions that occur in the plains states. That fascination climaxed one late spring evening when a tornado tore through his neighborhood. The tornado did extensive damage to surrounding houses and considerable damage to his house. The tornado struck while he and his family where at home. It was an experience that Tom will never forget!
Tom was born in Illinois and has lived in several places in Texas, but has spent most of his life in Oklahoma. Living and working in the central plains, Tom has seen and experienced his share of severe weather... from blizzards to baseball sized hail to tornados and dust storms and most everything in between! He also has several years of storm chasing experience, learning first hand the power and devastation that severe storms can cause.
In his free time, Tom enjoys carpentry/woodworking and almost anything that you can do outside! Some of his favorite outdoor activities are working in his yard, bicycling and especially boating and skiing on the Ouachita River. Tom lives in rural Union parish and is an animal lover residing with four cats, three rabbits and one snake.
Tom is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society and has earned the television seals of approval from both organizations. Over the years, he has also won a number of awards for weather broadcasting from the Louisiana and Arkansas Associated Press.
