From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tom Kenny (born 1981) is an Irish sportsman. He plays in the midfield position on the Cork senior hurling team.

Tom Kenny was born in Grenagh, County Cork in 1981. He was educated locally and later attended University College Cork (UCC) where he studied commerce. He later joined Ernst and Young. In 1996 Kenny first encountered hurling success when he won a Dean Cup with his school. He later won a Freshers All-Ireland medal with UCC in 2001. In 2004 Kenny captained the college's Fitzgibbon Cup team, narrowly losing out to Waterford Institute of Technology. Kenny has also had much success at inter-county level with Cork, both in hurling and football. In 1998 he won a Munster minor football medal, later going on to claim an Under-21 Munster football medal and an All-Ireland junior football winners medal in 2001. Since deciding to concentrate on hurling, however, Kenny has won 3 Munster Championship medals (2003, 2005, 2006) and 2 All-Ireland winners medals in 2004 and 2005. Kenny has also played a dual role with his local club Grenagh, having won the Mid-Cork junior football championship in 2003.
