Tom Hamilton, a native of Waterloo, Wisconsin, the chief radio announcer for the Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball team and a Big Ten college basketball commentator on ESPN.
Tom began his stint with the Indians organization in 1990 (replacing Paul Olden) after three years in the Columbus Clippers broadcasting booth. He shared the radio booth with then-chief announcer Herb Score until 1997, when Herb Score retired. Hamilton became chief announcer after Score left, and has held the position until present. He is highly popular with Indians fans who know him for his enthusiastic home run calls (SWING AND A DRIVE or SWUNG ON BELTED, DEEP LEFT FIELD, WAAAAY BACK, THIS BALL IS GONE OVER THE LEFT FIELD WALL! followed by HOW ABOUT THAT) and and his great sense of humor.
Game call late in Spring Training: "Smith will come in to pitch the 8th, he'll face Johnson, and if you have either of their baseball cards you are some kind of a collector."
He is a four-time Ohio Sportscaster of the Year award recipient (1997, 2000-01, 2004). Tom resides in Avon Lake, Ohio, with his wife and four children.
